How to clean a car interior without damaging surfaces

Professional vehicle interior detailing

Modern interiors combine plastics, coated trim, screens, leather, synthetic materials, fabric and gloss surfaces. One aggressive cleaner is not suitable for everything.

Start with dry cleaning

Vacuum loose grit before wiping surfaces. Removing particles first reduces the chance of scratching delicate trim.

Use separate cloths

Keep glass, screens, interior trim and heavily soiled areas separate. A clean microfibre cloth is often more important than adding more chemical product.

Be careful around displays

Touchscreens and instrument displays can have coatings that react badly to strong cleaners. Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s guidance.

Test first

When using a new cleaner, test it on a small hidden area and follow the product instructions.
